- Give them the old finger test. After the computers have been on for
- 15 minutes or more, lay your fingers on each chip. On the C64s, the
- hottest ships should be the VIC and the SID (in that order). The VIC
- will normally be hot enough that you can keep your finger on it,
- but not comfortably. Any other chip that is hotter than these is a
- strong suspect. On the 128, sorry. I have less experience here, but
- I do know that defective chips are usually hot.
